We had some football bad news last week which surrounded UK newpapers. Bad news was England’s captain injuring his knee and not being able to participate in this year’s World Cup in South Africa. This is a horrible blow for Ferdinand himself and also for England. Wonder what he is thinking? Now the big question is what is he going to do this summer? Will he decide to stay with the squad and support them or will he go to cruises holiday somewhere nice and sunny.

Ferdinand with any questions is one of the most talented and skillful defender in English football. He is the captain of the side and he is out this is a big blow for England. Now question is who will partner John Terry in England’s defense, big decision for Fabio to make. Even though Ferdinand hasn’t had a good season because of injury he is still a massive loss for England. He is one of the most skillful central defender England has produced in many years. His leadership, strength and game reading will be missed badly in the World cup but England should have other players to fill this gap.

It was like a freak accident when he injured his knee after a collision with Emile Heskey. This is not the first time injuries have hampered England, in Euro 2004 Rooney got injured, when he was looking like he was going to win the tournament by himself. It happened in 2002 World cup when Steven Gerrard got injured before the World cup and missed the whole tournament. After a freaking fall in 2006 World cup Owen twisted his ankle and missed the rest of the matches. It seems like England have been cursed with injuries in big tournaments.

I would like to wish Ferdinand the best of recovery even though I am a Chelsea fan ;o), you have another World Cup in you and surely the 2012 Euro so not rush and rest or go on princess cruises or regent cruises to go to Caribbean and rest his knee for few weeks.

Whose Next?
