Curling’s Olympic return after over seventy years – Nagano 1998 Olympic Winter Games
Men’s curling was included in the Olympic programme in 1924 at the first Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix. It was then dropped, and later re-introduced as a demonstration sport in 1932 in Lake Placid. After been present as a demonstration sport in several Olympic Winter Games between 1936 and 1992, it was in Nagano in 1998 that curling officially joined the Olympic programme, with both men’s and women’s competitions. Switzerland won the the men’s competition and became the first men’s curling Olympic champions since 1924, after beating Canada in the final match. Find more about Curling: www.olympic.org
