A modern version of “The Boy who Cried Wolf” is “Brett Favre is Retiring.” Brett Favre really has gone to practice with the Minnesota Vikings. The worm has turned after some teammates visited him at home. The NFL legend, who holds multiple records in football, hasn’t said if he’s there entirely for good, but Favre showing up for practice indicates he probably will play this season.

Minnesota has Brett Favre back

Brett Favre has showed up to practice ending months of intense speculation and debate. On Tuesday, Aug. 17, Favre stepped off a plane and joined his teammates on the practice field, having missed yet an additional training camp, according to ESPN. Brett Favre didn’t need any stinking training camp last year. The Vikings lived up to their title, rampaging around the NFL and utterly ruined a pathetic Dallas Cowboys squad within the first game of the post-season. In a loss in overtime to the New Orleans Saints within the NFC Championship game, Favre picked up the ankle injury that has plagued him since then.

Convinced by teammates to come back

Some of the other guys on the team may have spurred his decision. Three teammates of his from the Vikings headed down to Favre’s home in Hattiesburg, Miss., to get him back to practice. Steve Hutchinson, Ryan Longwell and Jared Allen, who has perhaps the most famous mullet in sports, went to visit Favre and possibly talk him into it. They must have made quite the argument, because he flew back to Minnesota with them.

The NFL’s most famous grandfather stands for making a lot

If Favre plays this season, as outlined by USA Today, he stands to earn $20 million. However, he is going to have to earn each and every penny. One of their opening games is going to be against the Packers, and they probably still want revenge. Packers’ QB Aaron Rodgers put up some very good numbers last year, and knocking off the Vikings, with Favre to boot, could be a real feather in their cap.
