April 17, 2011: Western New York Flash edge Boston Breakers 2-1

Western New York Flash take down the Boston Breakers 2-1 in the expansion team’s inaugural WPS match. Despite the impressive efforts of Boston’s defense, clearing two near goals off the line, the Flash earned a 2-0 lead on goals by Christine Sinclair (66′) and Gemma Davison (90+). Breakers Forward Kelly Smith got her team on the board in stoppage time, but her efforts weren’t enough as the match would end 2-1 in favor of the Flash.
