Arizona Cardinal qb Derek Anderson apologized for his Monday night postgame tirade. Proclaiming that his dad and mom didn’t raise him to behave like this during times of hardship.

The quarterback’s rant, now a country wide spectacle, came after a series of queries from Kent Somers, The Arizona Republic’s beat reporter, concerning why Anderson was smiling with teammate Deuce Luiti on the sideline whilst the Cardinals trailed the San Francisco 49ers by 18 points late in the match. The quick clip of the 2 laughing had been displayed throughout the Monday evening broadcast.

Anderson said following the game that it was nobody’s business what he and Lutui were speaking about. As Somers persisted, Anderson lost his temper and yelled about how he had placed his “freaking heart and soul” into the squad and that there wasn’t anything funny about it.

Anderson was low-key and apologetic as he started out his weekly news conference Wednesday.

The explosion came following the Arizona Cardinals lost their seventh straight competition, 27-6 in a flat, listless performance vs the san francisco 49ers.

The strain has been on Anderson since coach Ken Whisenhunt titled him the Cardinals’ starter during the preseason, then released Kurt Warner’s heir apparent. At some point, Whisenhunt benched Anderson though returned to him after rookie Max Hall struggled mightily. Whisenhunt explained Tuesday that Anderson is going to start Sunday vs the Rams.

Whisenhunt has brushed off the smiling on the bench, declaring it’s unfair to read into anything from a couple of seconds of video. On Wednesday, Whisenhunt duplicated his compliments of Anderson’s work ethic.

Anderson joined the season completing 52.9 percent of his passes for his NFL career. He’s at 52.8 percent this season. Among the starting qbs, solely Carolina Panthers rookie Jimmy Clausen was lower at 50 percent.

When questioned how he seems to keep calm, Whisenhunt replied: “You need to stay even and not lose your temper. Trust me, I get upset, players have seen that from me, it’s tough. There’s no way around it, we’re working to correct it every day, and hopefully, we’ll get it done.”

Arizona’s offense ranks 31st out of 32 NFL squads, and as constantly is the case with quarterbacks, Anderson receives the brunt of the criticism from devotees. Anderson said he aims to steer clear of his critics. Running back Tim Hightower reported he felt for his qb over the last 2 days.
